Baptism
Baptism
is the door to life and to the kingdom of God. Christ offered this first sacrament of the new law to all that they might have eternal life. He entrusted this sacrament and the gospel to his Church when he told his apostles: “Go, make disciples of all nations, and baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.” That is why the Church believes it is her most basic and necessary duty to inspire all, parents of children to be baptized, and godparents, to that true and living faith by which they adhere to Christ and enter into or confirm their commitment to the new covenant.

Parents must be registered
active members
of St. Isidore Catholic Community for at least
three months
. If you have just recently moved into the parish and can provide a letter from your previous parish stating you were an active member there, we will waive the three month requirement.
Call the office or come in to schedule an appointment for orientation with a baptismal preparation couple.
Upon completing the orientation, you will be scheduled for a baptism class. Class is once a month, usually the first Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM. Both parents, Catholic and non-Catholic, are asked to attend.
Godparents - (sponsors) can be one male and one female. At least one must be Roman Catholic, have completed their sixteenth year and have been confirmed. Non-Catholic sponsors will be recorded as witnesses. Additional male or female sponsors will not be recorded, but can stand in with the godparents during the ceremony.
A letter confirming active membership in a parish is required for Catholic godparents.
Baptism is usually celebrated two or three Sundays during the month, and begins at 1:00 PM. There are no baptisms scheduled during the Lenten season, though interviews and classes are conducted. Note: the Rite of Baptism does
not fulfill
the obligation to attend Mass on Sunday.
While there is no fee for the sacrament, it is most appropriate to make a donation to the parish. If you also wish to make an offering to the priest/deacon, that is at your discretion.
